How clients view, sign, and pay multi-page documents
What clients see in the portal and on a shared document link after you send a multi-page file.

🔍 What clients need to finish
If you marked a Contract, Invoice, Payment, or Questionnaire page Required, the client must finish those actions before they can pay. Optional contract pages do not block payment. Sign and Re-sign stay available from File View even while the client is looking at the Invoice page.
Pay is hidden or disabled when payment is not allowed yet. If checkout is blocked, the client sees the message from the server instead of a success toast.
🧭 Moving through pages
Shared document links and File View include Previous and Next. The header and page stepper stay pinned so those controls stay on screen. The open page is kept in the link, so refresh does not jump back to page one.
After the client signs, they land on the next page that still needs an action instead of always returning to the first page.
📄 Preview and later pages
Multi-page proposals preview as a web page in the client portal. If a later page did not freeze into the shared snapshot, that page still shows its own content — not a copy of page one. When the preview cannot load, clients see “Preview couldn’t be loaded” with Try again and Download, not the download-only empty state used for attachments.
🛠️ Phones and cookies
On a phone, the cookie banner sits above the document footer so Accept is tappable. On signing screens, the cookie banner is hidden so Type, Draw, and Complete stay reachable. The sign footer stays compact until the required fields are filled.
💡 Rule of thumb: Required pages must be finished before Pay unlocks; optional contract pages do not block payment.
🔗 Branded links in share emails
When your studio has a branded Client Portal address, new document share emails use that address so clients open proposals, contracts, and invoices on your studio site.
- New shares – the email button opens your branded portal when one is set up
- Older emails – links already sent keep working on the address in that message
- Resend – sending again generates a fresh link on your current branded address when available
